For parents: this is a couple of suggestions on how to modify some worksheets that your VELA teachers may send to you.

play parents hope you all are doing well I made this video to show you some of the ways you can modify some other worksheets but the stitches have been setting home and give you some ideas. worksheet so I'm going to go ahead and start this is one of the worksheets that went home with one of the teachers and this is a cutting worksheet and although the line around the dog is pretty bold just hope your little ones guide their scissors and cut the right line you can use any kind of color of writing Implement I'm going to go ahead and eat and what do you want to do is just outline the ones with a color so they you can tell them cut on yellow or stay on the yellow line when you honey and you can make it simple more simplify it by just making the yellow around the feet instead of having to cut each little end of it Hotel and then what you want to do is give them a starting a starting point so you can go ahead and cut into it a little bit for them let him get started and you can even cut away dispute so they have a starting point where they can start cutting call me yellow line only on the line a lot of times if kids are following a black line they'll just keep following the black line and end up cutting something they're not supposed to could make it yellow then and tell him to get on the other line they have it does help them stay focused on what they're supposed to track this is just expand example and you can do technique with anything that gets sent home for them to cut and don't expect perfection alright next will move on to another cutting type worksheet that's like this do they have to cut out a series of pictures and match the pictures on the other side with some glue I'm going to show you the modification for cutting and I know you know how to glue here we go again I'm going to use crayons you can use whatever you want markers highlighters if you have them whatever work whatever you can do to make the lines different colors so I'm going to go ahead and make the lines two colors I'm going to make the long line red you want to extend it all the way to the end of the page and then I'm going to make the short lines green you want to do two very contrasting colors so they can definitely see the different the first when you're cutting me if you want to cut online first that makes it easier to have them cut the long line and you say cut the red line and then after how do you say cut the green line from those of the shorter line and then just discard the pieces that they don't need to complete the worksheet coffee is right here okay and there you have it now they have their pictures cut out and they can up go ahead and attach them they're worksheet with glue you want to make sure that these kind of worksheets are they have to do focuses one is the concept that the worksheet is trying to how the kids work on and the other one is actually cutting so you want to make sure when they're cutting their focused on cutting and then once they're there things are cut you want to make sure they focus on the concept of the worksheet okay so when you have your worksheet and you want to kind of limit the field of pictures here because maybe this is too many pictures and it's too overwhelming for some kids you can take any kind of piece of paper preferably a darker color and cover-up all the other pictures except the one you want to focus on and then you want it give them some toys on which picture they think would go there and if we go down to the next one move the paper down see you covering up the rest of the pictures that are finished yet and then they can choose the picture that goes there okay easy peasy the next thing I know I'm going to show you is a color by numbers worksheet and it's helpful for kids and you may know to do this already but it's helpful for kids if they have a have a have a word and a number associated with the word that they need to color to fill in using crayons markers whatever you have fill it in with. that way they know the number and what color is supposed to be Kremlin lost its tip so that's easy simple and then here's another type of worksheet we have to cut the bottom again you want to use two contrasting colors and always do the long lines first and extend them out the edge of the paper so they're not trying to cut each individual box and make it difficult for them self it doesn't have to be perfect that you can feed my post is not perfect and just have them get their scissors always have them cut the long line first at the blue and then cut the orange not not not have to be perfect I'm just throw away the extra piece and then I can go ahead and blue onto the worksheet all right I hope that was helpful thank you for watching my video how to modify the worksheet
