School History

Sunrise at Valmonte School has been serving a wide range of young learners since 1996 and VELA since 2006. Unlike other preschools, VELA is part of the PVPUSD. Because of this direct link to the School District, students of VELA are provided a foundation and parents are given a complete understanding of what their children will be learning.

Our site has three programs; the Sunrise Early Childhood Center, Valmonte Early Learning Academy (VELA) and the Sunflower program.

Sunrise Early Childhood Center is our public preschool program serving students with ages 3 - 5 with special needs as well as partner students who serve as our communication and socialization models and leaders.

VELA is our licensed community preschool. VELA is licensed for 285 children between ages 2 - 5. This is a fee based program for students ages 2 - 5. Our fees, brochures and enrollment options are available on this website under the VELA section.

Valmonte School is staffed by highly qualified early childhood educators. There are 4 certificated Early Childhood Specialists and 9 licensed Lead Preschool Teachers. These teachers are supported by highly qualified assistants who meet state licensing requirements. Valmonte is also fortunate to have a variety of support personnel including; Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Adapted Physical Education Specialists, Behavior Support Specialists, Psychologists and para professionals.
